How does a kinetic sand table work?

A two-motor robot hidden under the sand moves a magnet, which pulls a steel ball through the sand to draw each design. When one design finishes, the next begins, so the table is always slowly changing. Everything sits under tempered glass, so the side and coffee tables work as everyday furniture.

Where are Sisyphus tables made?

Every Sisyphus is made in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our hardwood tables, including the Mid-century Modern and Carved Xyla, are handcrafted to order by artisans there.

Is it noisy?

No. At average speed you hear only a soft crunch as the ball rolls through the sand, quiet enough for a bedroom or office. You can also adjust the speed in the Sisyphus app.

Do I need Wi-Fi or the app?

No. Every table comes with 30 designs preloaded and starts playing right out of the box. Connect it to Wi-Fi and the free Sisyphus app (iOS and Android) to get more than 3,500 designs shared by other owners, create your own, adjust the speed, and choose from more than 10 lighting modes.

How long does shipping take, and is it free?

Shipping is free on every table within the contiguous United States. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and international addresses isn't included. Hardwood tables, including the Mid-century Modern and Carved Xyla, are handmade to order and ship in about two months. Metal tables and Minis ship in 4 days.

Does it need to be plugged in?

Yes. Each table plugs into a standard wall outlet with the included power supply, which works on 100–250V. Power use runs from about 5–10 watts for a Mini up to 75 watts for the largest hardwood coffee table, depending on lighting.

What's the warranty and return policy?

Minis and metal tables have a 12-month warranty, and hardwood coffee tables have 24 months, both counted from the ship date. Unopened, unused Minis and metal tables can be returned within two weeks of delivery. Hardwood tables are made to order and can't be returned once shipped. Which size is right for my space?

Desk, shelf or console: a Mini, about 15"–17" across with a 9.9" sand area.
Beside a sofa, chair or bed: a side table, 22" round and 22" tall.
Center of a room: a coffee table, 16" tall. Choose 36" or 48" round, or the rectangular Xyla at 45" or 58" long.
